The Team road very well at this year’s Tour of Walla Walla. Some of the best riders in the Pacific North West were in attendance with 120 on the start line. This was a great opportunity for our Team to test themselves against many of the other riders who even came up from CA who already had several solid races under them.
We had a strong ride in the Time Trial with Chris McNeil placing 6th and in the Criterium Justin Kerr came in 2nd. The Team also came in 2nd in Team Classification just 28sec down to first, not bad after 50hrs of combined race times.
The Road Races and Time Trial were run under hot and windy condition, but the Criterium was cold, windy, and rainy. This made for a very diverse stage race, testing not only the athletes, but the equipment as well. Everything performed flawlessly and this was a big difference that assisted to the Teams success because there were several other teams that we constantly dealing with their athletes mechanical issues.
This was also the first big race the Team attended where we were not allowed to use team radio’s – new UCI rule for this year – and it was interesting to observe the challenges that even the officials had in communicating to the riders.
